Tempted by a free trip for two?

As we close the door on another eventful year, we thought it would be a good idea to reflect on some of those events that shaped your industry over the past 12 months.

It's easy to forget precisely what announcement or what new launch or revelation caught your attention this year and, perhaps, was a catalyst for a change in the way you practice. 2007 marked another year of exciting developments in ophthalmology. By speaking with some experts in your industry, we have attempted to gauge exactly what impact certain events and announcements actually had on European ophthalmology.

Read one of this month's feature articles to find out why Dr Jorge Alió believes the days of the multifocal IOL are numbered. Alternatively, hear Professor Albert Augustin's opinions on anti-VEGF therapy pricing or, if glaucoma is your field of interest, read Dr André Mermoud and Dr Tarek Shaarawy's thoughts on the issues affecting glaucoma practice in Europe today.

This month, we are also announcing the launch of a competition, which could see you, along with a partner, win FREE travel and accommodation to Berlin in time for next September?s ESCRS congress. In order to enter, simply renew your FREE subscription to Ophthalmology Times Europe by completing one of the forms within this issue, or go online and register at www.oteurope.com

    Best of luck!

In the meantime, I would like to thank you all for your continued and valued support throughout 2007. It has been a real pleasure to serve you and to work with you, and I look forward to another great year.

    Happy holidays.

    Very best wishes,

    Fedra Pavlou
