Transitions partners with ADA on eye health education

Pinellas Park, FL—Transitions Optical Inc. continues to support the American Diabetes Association (ADA) by educating consumers about the importance of regular eye care for the early detection and treatment of diabetes during ADA Expo events.

Outreach efforts have focused on individuals who have or who are at risk for diabetes, including ethnic groups such as African Americans and Hispanics.

More than 5,000 attendees at an ADA Expo in San Antonio on May 18 learned how they can preserve their eye health. Transitions partnered with Visionworks to provide free vision screenings and distribute flyers with discounts for Transitions lenses.

Earlier this year, Transitions sponsored the ADA Expo in New York. More than 5,000 attendees attend and received eye health information. The attendees also were provided with vision screenings, as well as flyers with discounts for Transitions lenses.

Transitions also partnered with the ADA to release a public service announcement on the importance of regular eye exams for African Americans, who are at higher risk for diabetes. A video along with other consumer-friendly education materials are available free-of-charge for eye-care professionals within the “My Practice” section of MyMulticulturalToolkit.com on the Transitions website.
