    ASCRS congregates under the cherry blossoms for 2018 event

    Symposia, instructional courses, skills transfer labs, films, poster presentations will be offered during annual conference


    The 36th annual film festival reception and awards ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m. Award-winning videos will be shown and awards will be presented to producers in each category. The winning films will be shown continuously in the theater on Tuesday.

    The Best of ASCRS 2018 General Session begins Tuesday and will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

    The Tuesday symposia set includes:

    • Laser Cataract Surgery: Questions, Answers, Alternatives
    • X-Rounds: Refractive Cataract Surgery to the Max
    • ALACCSA’s Best of ASCRS (presented in Spanish)

    Pre-meeting programming

    Several specialized programs are offered before the official start of the meeting, all of which require separate registration.

    ASCRS Refractive Day: The Steinert Refractive Lecture will be given by Richard L. Lindstrom, MD. Topics for this day include a comprehensive overview of advances in refractive surgery.

    ASCRS Glaucoma Day: The 2018 Stephen A. Obstbaum, MD, Honored Lecturer will be Dr. Vold, with topics for this day including, improved patient outcomes and changes in treatments of glaucoma with cutting-edge guidance.

    Cornea Day: Topics for this day include a comprehensive overview of surgical challenges, management of inflammation and infections, ocular surface advances, crosslinking to premium IOLs, and current trends.  

    Other meeting highlights:

    Exhibit Hall remains open Saturday through Monday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit more than 300 vendors and consultant companies representing ophthalmic products and services. Visit Ophthalmology Times in booth 2649!

    ASCRS Foundation Run for Sight will be held on Sunday at 6:30 a.m.

    YES Connect Lounge will be open Saturday through Tuesday. Physicians with less than five years of practice are invited to network with colleagues and ASCRS leaders.

    The eyePAC reception will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery’s Great Hall and Luce Foundation.

    ASCRS•ASOA Launch Party will be held Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

    The annual ASOA celebration will be held Sunday from 8 p.m. to midnight at The Howard Theatre, 620 T Street.
